The Maffei family, who were of Germanic origin, had been one of the most prominent, noble families in the city of Verona since medieval times, where they occupied positions of high office. Anna Maffei married Giulio Della Torre, bringing with her the Villa in Fumane as her dowry. Dedicated to her, this room is decorated in delicate colours and enjoys a lovely view over the Fish Pond, designed by the Renaissance architect, Giulio Romano. An ancient and very plain wall, which re-emerged during restoration work recalls the time when the Villa also housed a monastery and then served as a temporary military headquarters during the Second World War. The bathroom, lined with precious Calacatta Borghini and Giallo Siena marble, has a shower equipped with chromo therapy.
