Valpolicella Classico Superiore D.O.C.
Corvinone 70%, Corvina 25%, Rondinella 5%
In the glass, Valpolicella Classico Superiore by Villa Della Torre has a medium-bright ruby red color. The nose proffers aromas of raspberry, small berries, nuances of vanilla and spices. On the palate it has a good structure with a well interwoven, subtle tannic texture, and a fresh and persistent finish. Harmonious and balanced, the mouthfeel is pleasantly soft and fresh, making it very versatile in pairings with food. Gratifying in its youthful version, it will become even more pleasurable with aging in the bottle.

Climate trend
The 2019 vintage brought us back to a more ‘classic’ calendar than those of recent years. Overall, the seasonal development was characterized by a mild winter with little rain. Both December and early January recorded unusual temperatures of around 10°C. Between the end of March and early April, vegetative recovery of the vine began. The heavy rains that occurred in May caused temperature swings and contributed to slow vegetative development of the vines. The summer saw some very hot days interspersed with periods when temperatures never exceeded 30°C. Rainfall at the end of August, although not intense, encouraged continuous temperature fluctuations that were beneficial for the steady but slow ripening of the grapes, with a good accumulation of polyphenols and anthocyanins and excellent development of aromas.
The resulting wines exhibit excellent elegance and finesse.

Food pairings
This wine accompanies imposing white and red meat dishes, especially traditional Veronese dishes; this cuisine, with its local homestyle recipes, enhances poultry, above all chicken and turkey, rabbit, guinea fowl, and duck. It also pairs extremely well with cheese, such as the extraordinary cheeses of Verona’s Lessini mountains, and the dry-cured meats aged for protracted periods by the area’s farmers.
Recommended serving temperature: 61-64°F in a large red wine glass.
